Farmington first, then the neighbors
Farmington is our home ground. It includes the Farmington Avenue and Scott Swamp Road corridor, the UConn Health campus and Unionville, a historic mill village in the northwest where the river runs through. Farmington borders Avon, West Hartford, Plainville, Newington and Bristol, among others, and each has a page of its own.
Avon and West Hartford share town lines with Farmington, and Westfarms mall sits right on the Farmington and West Hartford line. Plainville also borders Farmington, and Bristol is the city to the southwest. Newington is a short drive east.
Whatever town you are in, work follows the 2021 International Plumbing Code (IPC) as adopted in Connecticut's 2022 State Building Code, and local building departments decide permit questions.
Water service differs by town. Farmington itself is served by more than one system, so check your bill to see which utility is yours. Newington gets water and sewer from the Metropolitan District Commission, and Bristol runs its own Water and Sewer Department.
That split matters when something goes wrong. Where the utility's responsibility ends and yours begins depends on the utility and the property, so ask the utility or the town before you dig or pay for a repair. If you are not sure where the line changes hands, ask your utility first and then call us.
How our coverage works, including ZIP codes
Coverage is set by address, not just by ZIP code. Farmington's ZIP codes are 06032 for most of the town, 06030 for the UConn Health campus and 06034 for PO Boxes. Unionville has its own ZIP, 06085, and it lies inside the town of Farmington.
If your mail goes to a PO Box, give dispatch the street address where the work is. We serve Farmington from the dispatch address on Scott Swamp Road, so nearby locations are the easiest to reach. We do not promise a fixed arrival time, and dispatch will tell you what is realistic when you call.
ZIP codes for the other towns are on their own pages: Avon is 06001, Plainville is 06062, Newington is 06111 and Bristol is 06010. West Hartford has four, which its page lists.
Distance helps, but it is not the whole story. A crew already on a job in town may take longer than a crew free at the other end of the corridor, which is why dispatch asks about your situation before it gives a time.
What to do before you call from any of these towns
- Shut off the main water valve if a pipe is leaking or burst.
- Turn off power to wet areas only if you can reach the panel dry.
- Stop using drains if sewage is backing up.
- Leave the house and call the gas utility or 911 if you smell gas.
- Have your street address ready so dispatch can route a crew.
Not sure your town is covered?
Call the 24/7 line with your street address. Dispatch will confirm whether we can send a plumber and book a same-day visit if one is available.
Towns not listed here, such as Burlington, are handled case by case. Call anyway. For a list of what we fix once you are connected, see our services, and read about us if you want to know who answers the phone.
Every call starts the same way: dispatch asks about the problem, a licensed plumber is matched to the job and you hear the price before any work starts.
Plumbing emergency anywhere on this list?
Shut off the main water valve if water is running, then call. The line is answered 24/7, including nights and holidays.
